One of Korea's leading conductors, Professor Bong KIM (Gacheon University,Department of Arts) is renowned for his remarkable gift in music interpretationand his wide range of repertoire. His exceptional musical talent appeared earlyin his career when he was an active cellist. 

While attending the Seoul National University, he won both prestigious Dong-A andJoong Ang competition in Korea. After graduating from the Seoul NationalUniversity, he studied at Detmold Musikhochschule with André Navarra. Upon his graduation from theDetmold Musikhochschule, he was appointed as a principal cello position withthe KBS Symphony Orchestra and the Korean Symphony Orchestra. He also became afaculty member as a cello professor at the Kyung Won University (now GacheonUniversity)  in 1988. In 1992, he foundedthe New Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra and became a music director, as well as aprincipal conductor. This was his turning point in becoming an outstandingconductor from an accomplished cellist.  

He became a music director and a principal conductor of Seongnam PhilharmonicOrchestra in 2007 where his leadership and musical ability led SeongnamPhilharmonic Orchestra to become one of the leading orchestras in Korea. In2010, he left his position at Seongnam Philharmonic Orchestra to focus on histeaching and to expand his guest conducting repertoire.  

He has guest conducted many orchestras including The KBS Symphony Orchestra, SeoulPhilharmonic Orchestra, Korean Symphony Orchestra, Suwon PhilharmonicOrchestra, Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra, Seoul Symphony Orchestra. He hasalso performed with various orchestras in the United States and Europe, such asThe PhilharmonicOrchestra of Gyor in Hungary, Olsztyn National Philharmonic Orchestra, and San Diego Philharmonic Orchestra. 

Recently,he conducted the Craiova Philharmonic Orchestra of Romania in 2006 andBielefeld Philharmonic Orchestra of Germany in 2009. He was invited as a guestconductor for the Korea International Music Festival in 2007, 2008, and theIsang Yun International Music Festival in 2009.
