Jongdo An (Pianist)

Jongdo An is a versatile artist who excels as a pianist, harpsichordist, music columnist, producer, and artistic director of music festivals in both Korea and Germany. Since 2022, he has been serving as a professor at Yonsei University’s College of Music, dedicating himself to nurturing the next generation of musicians.

An made his dazzling European debut in 2012 by winning second place (without first place) at the Long-Thibaud-Crespin International Piano Competition in Paris. He has collaborated with esteemed conductors such as Lee Reynolds, Darrell Ang, Yoel Levi, Chung Chi-Yong, Kim Kwang-Hyun, and Lee Byung-Wook, performing with world-renowned orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra, Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, and St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra. In Korea, he has appeared with leading ensembles such as the KBS Symphony Orchestra, Incheon Philharmonic Orchestra, and Wonju Philharmonic Orchestra.

Beyond his performance career, An is an established music columnist, contributing over 90 regular columns to Economy Chosun’s cultural section. He also serves as the artistic director of Studio Philip An. His directorial debut, the French-Korean choral music drama Phèdre.

In 2024, An was the music director for the Daejeon Arts Center Spring Festival's Bach Abend, presenting an innovative program centered on Bach in collaboration with local artists. Through his diverse projects, he continues to foster meaningful musical connections and artistic expressions.
