Guest Leader&Piano HyeJin Kim Pianist HyeJin Kim has been described as ¡°passionate, indisputably masterful technique with colorful interpretations¡± (Der Westen), and is recognized as one of South Korea¡¯s top artists with a comprehensive career as soloist, chamber musician, recording artist and educator. Born in Seoul, pianist HyeJin Kim studied at the prestigious Yewon Arts School and Berlin¡¯s Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler, where she earned her MA in Musical Arts as a ¡°Konzertexamen.¡± She received an artist diploma at the Colburn School in its Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Fabio Bidini. HyeJin first attracted international attention at age 17 when, as its youngest participant, she won third prize in the prestigious Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition in Italy. Since then, Ms. Kim has been a prizewinner at numerous other international competitions including the 2008 Hong Kong International Piano Competition, the German Academic Exchange Service Prize, the Steinway & Sons Advancement Award Competition, and the Toronto International Piano Competition. A polished, expressive and powerful soloist, HyeJin has been invited to perform in major international venues and music festivals including the Konzerthaus Berlin, Herkulessaal Munich, Rudolfinum/Dvorak Hall and Smetana Hall Prague, Seoul Arts Center, Lotte Concert Hall, Marvão Music Festival, Napa Valley Festival, Klavier Festival Ruhr, Korean Orchestra Festival, Cesky Krumlov Festival, Prague Spring Festival, and Kotor Arts Festival, among others. In 2013, HyeJin made her major label debut with her recording of Rachmaninoff¡¯s first and second Piano Concerti with the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra led by Eduard Topchjan on Sony Classical. November 2021, her first solo album <MIROIRS> was released on nanova records and the recording with Clementi¡¯s early sonatas on Naxos released in February 2022. She is a resident pianist of Salastina Music Society and continues her musical performances in various venues as a soloist, a recitalist and a chamber musician. Ms. Kim has served as a professor in the international division at Chugye University of the Arts and currently a faculty member at the Colburn School. |
